A Distant Center, September 6–October 25
The upcoming exhibition at Artspace, A Distant Center, brings together more than thirty artists whose works address the concept of a center in some capacity. Please join us Friday, September 6, between 5–7 p.m. for the opening reception. The exhibition will be on view until October 25, 2024.
Esteemed Art Historian Sue Taylor, Ph.D., juried this open-call exhibition in collaboration with Artspace Curator Morgan Ritter.
Here, the center is understood as the point in which all attention is focused, where gathering occurs, and activity flows outward; it is also known as the axis, core, or spine. The title, A Distant Center, is sourced from poet Ha Jin’s poem, A Center, and suggests a momentary sense of stability and resilience in a less-than-unified socio-political landscape.
Thank you to our sponsor, BMW of Tigard, for contributing to the Lake Oswego community by generously sponsoring this exhibition.
Artspace is open Tuesday–Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment. If you’re interested in more information on the exhibition, please reach out to us at artscouncillo@gmail.com.
